Eric B.
Schultz’s
Innovation on Tap
shares examples of entrepreneurship through
the eyes of 25 innovators, living and departed, who have gathered in an
imaginary barroom. I was honored to be featured in that bar, highlighting my
history as CIO of Chicago as well as my current work at City Tech.
Although many
of the examples shared feature the development of a new technology, the common
theme of collaboration – people working together to make innovation possible –
arises as equally important as the technology itself. The entrepreneurs gather in
the bar not only to highlight their work, but also to share knowledge,
commiserate about challenges, and talk shop.
At City
Tech, our work would not be possible without bringing together partners and
capabilities to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts. The
problems we solve come with much bigger stakes; we untangle messy urban
challenges that intersect business, industry, and government. When we can make
sense of something as complex as cities, we open the path to true innovation
that can better the lives of everyone who lives there.
Thank you to
Eric for letting me share my story and be highlighted next to some incredible
entrepreneurs throughout history.
